What actually makes this A2 ghee?

A2 refers to the beta-casein protein in the milk. Indigenous Indian cattle — Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar — produce milk carrying the A2 variant, where most crossbred and European breeds produce A1 or a mix. Our milk comes from indigenous humped cattle only. It is a claim about the herd, not a processing step, which is why it starts at the farm rather than at the factory.

What is the bilona method, in plain terms?

Whole milk is cultured into curd overnight. The curd — not the cream — is churned in a wooden bilona until butter separates. That butter is then simmered until the water cooks off and the milk solids brown, and what is left is ghee. The industrial shortcut skips the curd entirely and churns cream straight into butter. It is faster, gives more ghee per litre of milk, and produces something that smells noticeably different.

Why is bilona ghee more expensive?

It takes roughly 25 to 30 litres of milk to make one litre of ghee this way, against far less for the cream method, and the curd has to sit overnight before anything can be churned. The cost is the milk and the time, not a premium on the label.

What is in it besides ghee?

Nothing. No palm oil, no vanaspati, no colour, no preservative, no added essence. The ingredients list is one line, and that is the whole point of the product.

Is it suitable if I am lactose intolerant?

Ghee is almost pure butterfat — the milk solids and most of the lactose are removed during clarification, which is why it keeps without refrigeration. Many people who react to milk tolerate it well. We are not in a position to give you medical advice, though: if you have a diagnosed dairy allergy rather than lactose intolerance, ask your doctor before trying it.

How can I tell real ghee from adulterated ghee at home?

Two rough tests. Melt a spoonful — real ghee liquefies evenly and smells nutty rather than oily. Or rub a little between your palms: it should melt from body heat alone and leave a clean, grainy warmth rather than a greasy film. Neither test is conclusive, which is why a laboratory report matters more than a kitchen one.

Our FSSAI certificate is published on the Certifications page. Where batch test reports exist they are published there too — that page is the single place we make quality claims, so if something is not on it, we have not claimed it.

It belongs on every listing, and the certificate is published on our Certifications page. If you cannot find the number displayed, tell us — that is a compliance failure on our side and we would rather hear it from you than from an inspector.

Where does the milk come from?

Small farms we buy from directly rather than through an aggregator, which is what lets us know which herd a batch came from. If you want to know about a specific batch, quote the batch code on your jar when you write to us.

Why has my ghee gone grainy?

Accepted Answer

That is normal, and it is a good sign. Real ghee crystallises as it cools, and the grain size depends on how fast that happened — a jar that sets grainy in winter and smooth in summer is behaving exactly as fat from real milk should. Uniformly smooth ghee all year round is more often a sign of blending than of quality.

Does it need to go in the fridge?

No. Clarification removes almost all the water, which is what makes ghee shelf-stable. Keep it in a cool, dry cupboard out of direct sunlight. Refrigerating it does no harm but makes it hard to scoop.

How long does it keep once opened?

Check the best-before date on your jar. The one thing that genuinely shortens its life is moisture, so use a dry spoon every time — a wet one introduces water and, with it, the possibility of spoilage.

Can I fry in it?

Yes, and it is one of the better fats for it. Ghee has a high smoke point — well above most refined oils — so it holds up to tempering, deep frying and roasting without breaking down.

Every size is the same ghee from the same batches, so this is only a question of how fast you cook through it. The larger tins work out cheaper per litre and the price per litre is shown on each pack so you can compare rather than guess. If you have not tried us before, start small.

UPI, card, net banking and wallets through Razorpay, or Cash on Delivery anywhere we deliver. Card and UPI details are entered in Razorpay's own window — they never reach our servers, and we could not store them if we wanted to.

How do I track my order?

Use the Track Order page with your order number and the email or phone you checked out with. No account needed. The order number alone is deliberately not enough: that pairing is what stops someone reading your order by guessing a number.

Will the jar survive the post?

Glass jars are packed to travel. If one arrives damaged, that is our problem to fix — see the next section.

My jar arrived damaged or leaking.

Send us a photo within the window set out in our Refund Policy and we will replace it or refund you. This is exactly the case that policy exists for, and we would rather you told us than wrote it off.

Can I return it because I did not like it?

Accepted Answer

Food cannot be taken back once opened, for hygiene reasons, and that is not a policy we can bend. If something seems wrong with the product itself — the smell, the texture, the seal — that is a different conversation and we want to hear about it.

Can I cancel an order?

Yes, while it is still being prepared — from your account, or by messaging us. Once it has shipped it has to go through the returns route in the Refund Policy instead.

How long does a refund take?

Once approved, the money goes back through Razorpay to whatever you paid with, and how long it then takes is your bank's decision rather than ours — usually a few working days. For Cash on Delivery orders we will ask for bank or UPI details to send it to.

Why is there no password?

There is nothing for you to remember and nothing for us to leak. Enter your details, we send a six-digit code, and that signs you in. A password we never store is a password that cannot be stolen from us.

Do I need an account to order?

No. You can check out as a guest and track the order with your order number. If you later sign in with the same email or phone, that order appears in your account automatically.

Who can leave a review?

Anyone signed in to an account here. Reviews from customers who actually ordered that product publish immediately and carry a Verified badge; anything else is read by us first. We do not buy reviews, write them, or take one down for being unflattering.

Write to us and we will remove it. There is one review per customer per product, so changing yours means replacing it — and we would rather do that by hand than build a feature that quietly rewrites reviews.

We keep what an order needs — name, address, contact details, order history — for as long as tax law requires us to, and nothing beyond that. We do not sell it and there are no third-party tracking scripts on this site. The Privacy Policy is the full version.
